Architecture What I've Learned

Arct3000 assignment 1

-Plan more before doing especially with the layout of the assignment and what it
going to be placed where.

-Plan out more because touching up, formatting and make everything look nice takes
ages to do even though you think it won't

-Draw more to get inital ideas before modelling/drafting. You'll waste too much
time trying to come up with ideas in front of a program

-Spend time picking a colour scheme from the start and stick with it. It consumes
way too much time to try and come back and change it at the end

- Work smarter. Dont go and trace people again for example just because 1 other
peron did its a waste of time and energy. Find smart ways to do things to make it
easier and quicker (e.g. download nice people off the net and use them, a few $$
will save more time and look way nicer, plus you can build a library for next time)

- Draw walls as single lines in rhino especially if going illustrator. You can then
get walla widths by adjusting the strokes

-stay organized with your layers and objects. dont be lazy because itll be a
timewaster to sort out later

- use artboards, so much easier to see everything in 1 document

- are allowed to do multiple drawings in a single rhino doc

-DONT 80% DO SOMETHING AND LEAVE IT TO DO LATER JUST FINISH IT COMPLETELY

- make lists of what need to be done (plan). Break it down into smaller ones and
complete them

-use a timer sometimes

-start your favourite or/least favourite task first

-prep your area the night before for the next morning

-Make an ideas folder

BIM WORFLOWS ASSIGNMENT 1

-Dimensioning everything early makes a big difference. stops your project leading
to a mess of random dimensions.

-keep your project clean

-its okay to restart a model if this one is wrong/too messy. have the other project
file open and copy the good parts

-when doing offset walls/curtain walls its goo to set the offset first before
drawing the wall. Svaes a lot of time and fiddling
