Leanne joined the staff of Beckman High School as a long term substitute at the start of second semester on January 7® and worked with our students until she departed for Uruguay as a Fulbright Scholar in mid-March of 2019. Leanne is @ highly competent teacher with strong a science background and efficiently stepped in to teach chemistry and one section of Junior AVID. She quickly built relationships with the students and staff and easily transitioned into her teaching responsibilities. She regularly collaborated with the other chemistry teachers to confirm that her students were learning the same content as their peers and worked to ensure her lessons were NGSS compliant. She created content with her colleagues to ensure her students were being measured in same way utilizing Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) and other inquiry based lab assessments. Leanne promptly built rapport with her students and developed a strong sense of community and trust in her classroom. During the three months she was at Beckman there were never student or parent concerns with her teaching or grading practices, She was knowledgeable in chemistry and fair with her students implementing consistent classroom expectations and routines. When questions did arise, she would work with her colleagues and at times discuss specific situations with administration seeking guidance and support Leanne was professional, reliable and responsible in her duties. She took over the technology resources from the classroom teacher utilizing Google Classroom and Haiku as the classroom website. She kept these programs up to date with current classroom resources and homework as an additional way to support students, She made herself available to students outside of class to provide tutoring and assistance and was always welcoming students in her classroom, In summary, I highly recommend Leanne Lupone for the position of science teacher, she will support students and staff and become a valuable addition to your school community.
