Window Opener Mechanism

 What we recreated??
A simple six bar mechanism of a window. This mechanism is a simple replica of the mechanism
followed by the window in the institute hostels.

 Why creating a six bar window mechanism leaving the remaining mechanisms?
We feel this mechanism is a simple one to demonstrate the application of planar mechanisms
(fulfilling the requirements), easy to recreate the prototype and its extended applications.

 About the degree of freedom, type and other specifications of this mechanism :
This 6 bar mechanism consists of 6 links including one slider;
Degree of freedom: n=6; j2=7; dof= 3*(6-1) – (2*7) = 1;
This mechanism doesn’t follow Grashof Law as there is no complete revolution of any link.

 Applications: The mechanism can be used to (used in some cases) for opening and closing of
doors, windows, aeroplane wing & tail opening
