READING

The Diagnostic Test for Reading was done as follows.

1. Two paragraphs were chosen from the Standard One “New


Republic Readers”. Pupils were chosen on a one to one basis and
an oral reading of the two paragraphs was done and recorded.

2. Twenty Sight words was chosen from the “Dolch Sight Word
List” for the Standard Two level and given to the pupils to read.

3. Two words using each Vowels sounds, both long and short, was
given to the pupils for pronunciation.

4. Pupils were given words to decode in phonics.

The following few pages outlines the words used in the reading test.
In addition the record of the item analysis was given.
