Persistence Mini Lesson

Lesson Duration: 30 minutes

Objectives:

1. SWBAT define persistence and describe what persistence means in their own words.
2. SWBAT describe and explain how they see persistence in their own lives based on
school and community experiences.

Lesson Materials:

● Chart paper
● Markers
● Power point

Introduction:

Students will take 1 minute to discuss what they believe the word persistence means in their
groups.

Lesson Activity: Persistence from the Eyes of Students

1. Students will be guided through lesson with powerpoint.


2. After intro question, students will learn the official definition of the word persistence.
3. Each group will be given chart paper to write the meaning of persistence in their own
words.
4. Students and I will discuss whole group where they can see persistence in their
everyday lives
5. Students will learn where and how they can see persistence around them
6. Each group will be given two pieces of chart paper to write actions of persistence they
see in their communities and in school based on their experiences.

Lesson Closing:

Students will watch a video on the Can’t Stop Won’t Stop documentary trailer for Diddy to follow
up with students about where and how they can see persistence.
