Signature Assignment: Reflection

Film 1070 has been able to provide a better understanding how the representation of class,

race, gender, ethnicity and sexuality play a role in the lens of American Film. Hollywood truly sticks to

these stereotypes and presents them often in a negative light. If society will see, it is as “un-normal” or

not “approved” Hollywood will take that into consideration and produce a film that appeals to the

society. Often you see many Hollywood films representing race and ethnicities in a negative aspect if

they are not white Americans; they put too much pressure on gender roles for both men and female to

be the perfect human. Being able to study and learn about film has been able to provide extensive

critical thinking and allow you to have our own opinion and deeper understanding of what takes place

into the consideration of films and the truth.

Not only does it allow for more critical thinking, but also it allows and helps develop a more

effective communication and connection with the audience, actors and producers. It has allowed me to

be able to look deeper past just the characters and hold a more meaningful conversation about the

story line and the attachment to the story. Film 1070 has been able to give me a different light to see,

understand and appreciate the movies that Hollywood produces.
