(2 marks) b) Calculate i) the molarity of a solution prepared by dissolving 10.0 g of Cu(NOs)2.6H20 in enough water to produce 200 cm’ of solution. (2 marks) ii) the molarity of 50.0 mL 15% (w/v) aqueous CH;COOH. (2 marks) the normality of 3 M HsPOx. (2 marks) ) Briefly explain how to prepare the following solutions: i) A 250 mL 2.0 M propanoic acid, CHsCHzCOOH from a commercial reagent, 90% (wiw) and specific gravity of 0.9954 assuming the density of water is 1 g/mL. (4 marks) ii) A 1.0 L solution that is 2000 ppb in CI’, from solid magnesium chloride. (4 marks) d) Laboratory apparatus used for volumetric measurements can be divided into volumetric and non-volumetric glassware. List three volumetric glassware and state their functions. (3 marks) €) Identify a suitable weighing technique for hygroscopic chemicals. (1 mark) QUESTION 2 a) Quartering is a technique to reduce amount of powdered sample from gross sample to lab size without creating a systematic bias. Explain step by step, the quartering technique. (4 marks) b) An experiment to determine the mass (mg) of ascorbic acid in a vitamin C tablet was conducted. Three students run four trials each and their findings were recorded in the table below. The true mass of ascorbic acid in the vitamin C tablet is 500 mg.
