Your Principal has suggested that all books should be removed
from the school library and replaced by a larger suite of
computers. He has asked for students’ opinions to be published in the school magazine. Write an article for your school magazine stating your views. The topic of replacing books with tablets and whether to read an e- book or a printed version has recently raised a lot of eyebrows. Ever since the principal has suggested removing all the books from our library and replacing them with computers, a heated debate has started among students, parents and teachers. On one side of the argument, some students are very much in favour of the computers. They assert that books are boring and that surfing the internet is easier and more fun and interactive. Moreover, the internet provides a chance for more illustrations. On the other side, sceptics argue against the idea as they think reading a book is considered to be more rewarding and enjoyable. In addition, spending too much time staring at a computer screen can lead to a number of eye problems.
In short, I believe that it is progress is inevitable and that these
tools (gadgets) are essential; however, they cannot totally replace the traditional paper version of books.
