To Whom It May Concern:

Stephen Herrera has been a student teacher in my eight grade class for twelve weeks. He has been
a part of a four-teacher team. Stephen has been responsible for teaching six sections of 8th grade
math.
Mr. Herrera has had the experience of teaching two units in math, mainly focused on geometry.
During this time he has planned and implemented the daily homework, weekly quizzes and unit
tests. Stephen has successfully demonstrated his awareness of different learning styles and has
adequately adjusted assignments to meet the varied needs of students. His units were thoroughly
prepared and implemented.
Stephen’s experience in math included teaching a unit on volume. He assessed the student’s with a
pre and post assessment which guided him in lesson planning. He created warm ups that allowed
students to tap into previous knowledge that was needed to be successful with the unit. Stephen
also created a project that allowed students to demonstrate understanding of knowledge in a non-
traditional manner.
Stephen possesses a positive and enthusiastic personality. He has worked hard to build
relationships with students. It is very obvious that he has the students’ needs in mind. He was
always professionally dressed, articulate, and ready with a smile and willingness to learn. During his
twelve weeks, Stephen has attended weekly PLC’s and faculty meetings. He also participated in
parent-teacher conferences. I have found that other team members have accepted him as a strong
working member of our team and he has had a positive working relationship with each one of them,
as well as with other staff members.
I am confident that Mr. Herrera will be an asset to any staff that he works with. He is confident,
knowledgeable, and has the necessary skills to become a successful teacher. I believe that he will
continue to grow and become even more effective as a teacher with further opportunities. Please
