National or State Academic Content Standards

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSA.REI.B.3
Solve linear equations and inequalities in one variable, including equations with coefficients
represented by letters.

Learning Goal
Students will understand a linear equation. Students will be to solve one step equation and
identify the unknown variable by using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Measurable Objectives
Students will be able to solve one step equations by separating the equation by identifying the
left side and ride, identifying the variable and using inverse operation to solve. Students will be
able to understand the inverse operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Students will be able to check their answer by substituting for the variable in the original
equation and check is both sides are equivalent.
