Reflection: (What have you learned about your students? How will this inform future instruction?) In one-page double
spaced, size 12 font reflection explain why the instructional objectives, experiences, and materials were chosen. Describe
how well the children learned/achieved the instructional objectives. Finally include a description of how you modified the
experience to include all children.
For my activity I chose to have the students dance to a song for their lesson. I did the activity in a
preschool classroom. I chose to do the song Toody ta ta because the children have to listen to the song to know
what moves they are going to do. The song I chose can also be sung if they children want to sing. I chose the
objectives the children will execute the dance moves that are in the song and the children will discuss the
different parts of the song afterwards. I chose these objectives because I wanted to see if the children were able
to listen to the song and do the moves that it asked of them. I also wanted to see if the children were able to
remember the moves afterwards without listening to the song. This activity helps to see how well the children’s
listening skills are at this age. The only material I had for this activity was a CD with the song on it and a CD
player. I did not want to have pictures of the moves because I wanted the children to listen to the song to hear
the moves whether then see the moves on a piece of paper. I chose to do this experience because the children
only listen to the same 4 songs and do not do anything with the songs. I figured I would do this activity because
it would provide a chance to listen to a new song and be allowed to move around and dance.
All the children but one met the objectives. The one child that did not has a serve disability and has an
aid to help him in the classroom. The one child moved back and forth listening to the song but did not do the
motions. The other children did the different moves to the song. The children put their thumbs out. They then
put their elbows together, then feet apart. Next, they put their knees together and bottoms up. Lastly, they stuck
their tongues out, closed their eyes, and turned around. They also talked about the different parts of the song
afterwards as a conclusion to the activity. I think all the children learned or supported the skill of listening in
this activity.

For the activity I did not modify it because I was looking to see how well the children listened to the
song more than being able to execute the moves. I would modify if by having pictures of the different moves for
children who struggle with hearing. I would also sign the song for children hard of hearing and knew sign
language. For a child with a physical disability I would have them move side to side or sway their upper body if
they can during the toody ta part of the song. Another way I would modify this activity is by having the children
point to the pictures of what the song says to do. For example, when the song says thumbs up I would have
I learn a lot about the children from doing this activity. The children love to listen and dance to songs in
the classroom. They find it funny when everyone is dancing silly. They all get excited to be involved in an
activity where they get to move around and use their energy. I also learned that the children like to know if the
song has dance moves so they can follow along. I learned that once you wound them up during the song it is
hard to calm them down. We had to take a minute and relax before we moved on so the children could calm
their bodies.
From doing this activity I can prepare for future instruction with the children. I can do another song that
moves a little faster to see if the children can listen and execute the moves. I would also do an activity where I
say what the children need to do, like Simon says, and see if the children can follow the directions and I will
Overall, I think the activity went very well with the children. They were all engaged in the activity and
listened to the song and danced along. I hope from doing this activity that the children will be able to listen to
other songs and be able to dance along. The children need to be able to move and express themselves through
dance.
