Lynn University has a diverse culture that really calls my attention, because being surrounded

in a multicultural environment is very important to me. I love learning and being in an

environment that can bring many different cultural aspects to the community. Being around

other people who are also affected by the countries current political state will definitely help me

to stay informed on any current events in politics.

Having close family and friends that have been affected by the current political status

concerning immigration so harshly, I would love to be someone who can make a change.

Growing up in a very diverse community, whether it was my neighborhood or my school

community, I was always around people who have been affected by their citizenship status.

Watching the very long and strenuous process that my parents had to go through to gain their

citizenship here in the US was very inspiring to me, and the experience showed me how many

people struggle.

Since my freshman year in highschool I wanted to attend the Academy for Math,

Engineering and Science. I was not accepted into the school that I wanted to go to until my

Junior year, and this experience taught me that I have to work hard for the things that I want. It

was so disappointing to be rejected, and I realized how seriously I have to take school to get

great achievements.

Recently, I challenged my family on their opinions of the LGBT Community. My family has

very close ties to the Mormon Church, and they are very conservative. Standing up for equal

rights for everyone is hard to do around conservatives, and I did it. All people deserve equal

rights. I wanted to stand up for the rights of people to love whoever they want because I needed

to stand up for myself, as I am part of the LGBT Community. I would and I will continue to stand

up to be treated with equal respect.
