cont Bese Performance Appeal System oa CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction to the Project Any venture has several roles, Healthy relationship between them is very important for a successful venture. Roles can be classified as + Superior or Manager ‘+ Subordinate or Employee The relationship can be termed as Employee-Manager Relationship. Two aspects to improve this relationship © Managing tasks/subtasks ‘© Assigned projects need to be completed within the stipulated time. ‘© Each and every employee's performance has to be monitored and analyzed. © Classifying employees based on performance and assigning tasks! subtasks accordingly. Appraising the work of employees © Based on the analysis made, employees are accredited and appraised as a part of motivation. © This would lead to healthy and stable working environment where work efficiency can be expected. Thus our project, Credit Based Performance Appraisal System, is an attempt to create a healthy Superior - Subordinate Relationship. 1.2 Literature Survey Redmine is an open source software that provides budgeting, collaboration, customization, issue tracking, learning, support, notifications, resource management, and traditional project management functionality for small/medium businesses [1]. The best functional area of Redmine is traditional project management. It operates on online, mobile, and on premise platforms. So also Izang et al. [2] developed a web-based system that helps organizations to recruit competent project managers before assigning of projects to such persons, but such system does not in Cooperate communication among project team members as well as stakeholders. To this end, this study was able to build on some of the lapses of the related works and literatures reviewed to come up with a perfect system that will not only help in software project development but will also satisfy all stakeholders involved in a particular project as most of their requirements will be meant. 1.3 Comparison with Existing Systems Most of the existing task management softwares or apps are meant for personal usage and not for an organizational use [3] [4]. Our project has advantages over similar existing systems like Microsoft To-Do, Any Do or Zapier’s To-Do List App such as, © Oursystem is meant for an organizational use. « Ithas the functionality of project assignment. + The performance of each employee is evaluated. * Credits are awarded automatically based on the performance. 1.4 Proposed System In this project, we aim to create a healthy Superior-Subordinate Relationship. Each role in the project is provided with usemame and password for a traditional login portal of the system. The users of the system must login to get the benefits of the system. Based on the login credentials, every role is identified. Each role is provided with specific set of privileges. The privileges for respective roles are: Deparment of Computer Science & Engineering, VCET, Puttur. Monitors the overall progress and review the completed work. 000 Analyses the employees” performance based on the credits each employee has acquired by completing projects and offer appraisals. © Project Manager ‘© Adds and removes employees for a project. © Assignment of subtasks to the employees in the project. © Monitors the work progress and review the submitted subtasks. + Employee © Updates the status of the project which can be viewed by the Project Manager. © Manages the assigned tasks within the deadlines. Each role in the system are notified if there are any updates regarding the projects or subtasks. Notification is of two methods. In-system notifications and Email notifications.
