PRACTICAL NO: 06
Definition: The DST is a procedure for isolating and testing the surrounding
geological formations through the drill stem test. The test is a measurement of
pressure behavior at drill stem and is valuable way to attain way to obtain
important sampling information on the formation fluid.
OR
Drill stem testing is a well head of determining the production potential of a well.
The formation fluid exert a pressure that is controlled during drilling by using a
dense drilling fluid.
Process:
The drill stem is a tool that is attached to the bottom of the drill string and lowered
to the point opposite to the formation to be tested. The DST tool is equipped with
expanded seal that permits the formation being tested to isolate from the rest of
bore hole. The drill pipe is equipped with all drilling mud so the formation fluid can
unlike to drill string. When enough time has passed, opening in the DST tools have
closed off and drill string is brought up to the surface.
during testing through the data processed the oil-gas ratio and water-gas ratio.
