On top of that, when criminals in Norway leave prison, they stay out.

It has one of the

lowest recidivism rates in the world at 20%. The US has one of the highest: 76.6% of
prisoners are re-arrested within five years.

For the period 2008–12— Bureau of Justice Statistics

Persons in poor households at or below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) (39.8 per 1,000)
had more than double the rate of violent victimization as persons in high-income
households (16.9 per 1,000).
Persons in poor households had a higher rate of violence involving a firearm (3.5 per
1,000) compared to persons above the FPL (0.8–2.5 per 1,000).
The overall pattern of poor persons having the highest rates of violent victimization was
consistent for both whites and blacks. However, the rate of violent victimization for
Hispanics did not vary across poverty levels.
Poor Hispanics (25.3 per 1,000) had lower rates of violence compared to poor whites (46.4
per 1,000) and poor blacks (43.4 per 1,000).
Poor persons living in urban areas (43.9 per 1,000) had violent victimization rates similar
to poor persons living in rural areas (38.8 per 1,000).
Poor urban blacks (51.3 per 1,000) had rates of violence similar to poor urban whites (56.4
per 1,000).

National incarceration rate

(per 100,000 of all ages)

White (non-Hispanic) 450 per 100,000

Hispanic 831 per 100,000

Black 2,306 per 100,000

“The impact of paternal deprivation is very serious. Studies have shown that a child
without a father is 11 times more likely to display violent behaviour, 10 times more likely
to join a gang and six times more likely to end up in prison, and twice as likely to drop out
of school,” said Bunting. Jamaica -- Minister of National Security, Peter Bunting
Approximately 60 percent of U.S. children living in mother-only families are impoverished,
compared with only 11 percent of two-parent families. The rate of poverty is even higher
in African-American single-parent families, in which two out of every three children are
poor.
According to 2017 U.S. Census Bureau, out of about 12 million single parent families with
children under the age of 18, more than 80% were headed by single mothers.
Today 1 in 4 children under the age of 18 — a total of about 17.2 million — are being
raised without a father
Single mothers are much more likely to be poor than married couples. The poverty rate
for single-mother families in 2016 was 35.6%, nearly five times more than the rate (6.6%)
for married-couple families
Among children living with mother only, 40% lived in poverty. In contrast, only 12% of
children in two parent families were counted as poor

Neglected children are 4.8 times more likely to be arrested as a juvenile and 3.1 times
more likely to be arrested for a violent crime compared to those who did not experience
child abuse or neglect
In another report of 43 death row inmates, 36 had been physically or sexually abused, 37
had been neglected, and 31 had witnessed domestic violence growing up

John Locke would argue that it is clear that poverty causes crime because if we start as a
blank slate then there would be equal crime rates in rich and poor neibourhoods, and
because there is a difference that means that poverty does affect crime.

Free will would argue that it is the persons fault becsuse they decided to engage in
criminal activity, there are many examples were people tht were poor improved their life
through their own desition Obama had a single mother and still became president
lacking sufficient money to live at a standard considered comfortable or normal in a
society.
Poor education would limit their free will ooptions no saben de otrs opciones pero esto
