ogram, "Judaism, Israelism, and Messianism" revisits the image of the "diasporal
" orthodox Jew in the wake of various images disseminated in the media during th
e Disengagement (pull out from the Gaza Strip) days. Prior to the Disengagement
it was commonly held that the New Jew is the mutation currently dubbed "Israeli"
. During the plan's implementation, however, it became clear that this was not s
o; the image of the revisionist pioneer or rugged intellectual has not replaced
the images of the diaspora Jew. The ideology that stands behind the religious na
tional movement, the secular national movement, reveals that Zionism, like Shabb
ateanism, is but another messianic movement which, in its present incarnation, o
ffers redemption through the land and through nationalism. Works offer different
views on a world of faith, messianism and xenophobia. 2005 21'01'' Hebrew

???? ?? Yanor, Lee ??? ?? ???? Coffee With Pina An intim

ate dialogue with famed German choreographer Pina Bausch (b. 1940). In 1993, at
the Mistral café next to the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, filmmaker Lee Yanor met Pin
a Bausch for the first time. They have stayed in touch for twelve years. This fi
lm revolves around two of those meetings, one in 2002 in Paris and the other in
2005 in Wuppertal, the home of Pina Bausch and her company. "It looks very chaot
ic but somehow it makes sense," the choreographer remarks to the director in the
rehearsal studio, where she is dancing segments from her solo Danzon. The dance
is continually interrupted, which allows the director to seize the emotions tha
t arise from the silences, the conversations, the laughter. A medley of images-a
café, water fountains, rehearsal studios, industrial chimneys, railroad tracks, e
ndless forests, and polar bears dancing underwater-blend into danced excerpts fr

?????? ????? Avrahami, Yochai Rocks Ahead The appe

arance of this no man's land resembles a kaleidoscope that contains an endless a
valanche of objects and landscape elements, creating the effect of an abstract v
ision: the landscape is strewn with objects pertaining to times of war and calm,
and to various forms of neglect, desertion, control, restriction and intrusion.
Remainders of abandoned vehicles, construction materials, sheep bones and water
ing and plumbing pipes are scattered on the ground. Traces pertaining to archeol
ogy, botany, politics, strategy, geography, architecture, consumption and sanita
tion create a scene that is at once threatening and pastoral. This work focuses
on two sites that are located between Jerusalem and Ramallah. Situated on eithe
r side of the Qalandia checkpoint and the nearby separation wall at the symbolic
core of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank these sites appear detached fro
m both their surroundings and from one another. To the west of the wall is the a
bandoned Atarot\ Qalandia Airport runway; to its east is the quarry at the foot
of the refugee camp. The proximity of these two sites, the separation between th
em, the symbolic inversion, their physical interdependence and functional opposi
tion are the main inspiration for this story. The process is based on collecting
objects and taking photographs in these two sites. The points of view are those
of a visiting tourist, an investigator and a spy, who must reckon with fear and
desperation. The focus on the city's periphery derives from a sense of both fea
r and curiosity, and involves courage, trust, suspicion and sublimation that con
front this endless process of collapse. The deserted remainders of this chaotic
reality are transformed into fossils cast in insulating and calking materials an
d dust from the ground. The manner in which the objects are replicated resembles
photocopying in terms of its immediacy and degree of precision. The footage res
embles news images; both its contents and the manner in which it is filmed have
a quality that awakens suspicion, relating as it does to checkpoints, a military
robot, aerial photographs, a lynch, censorship, clandestinely shot photographs
and espionage. The authenticity of the locations is the result of instability, c
onstant uncertainty and additional limitations. The film includes footage filmed
in the original sites and in alternative locations, as well as satellite imager
y (from Google Earth) and additional footage shot in a studio. The story tries
to undermine the complex urban order by following an itinerary that contradicts
the existing trajectory. The quarry contains constantly shining piles of contemp
orary fossils casts of frozen movement from which emerge creatures at different
evolutionary stages. As in Ezekiel's Vision of the Dry Bones, the fossils materi
alize and coalesce, emerging from the quarry as new creatures. The more develope
d fossil creatures emerge from the quarry and move on to its negative counterpar
t the airport runway. The fossil's journey starts optimistically with a new lif
e of wandering, as if at pasture, and continues with further evolutionary develo
pment and optimistic inventions, yet this serene existence is disturbed by a for
m of behavior that reduces the fossils to their original, crude state.

sea and arriving at a rock where he replaces the proudly waving Israeli flag by
a young olive tree. This action takes place at Andromeda s Rock, a rock in the Me

a white shirt and ready to toil the land. Only, this time the pioneer denationa

of Roee Rosen begins with the artist s announcement that he is about to die. He di
savows a career replete with lies, scandals, and fake identities. However, his c
onfession are delivered by three surrogates all foreign female workers residing
in Israel who deliver the monologues in Hebrew, a language they do not speak. Th
eir monologues are based on Rosen s life but are simultaneously plausible as state
ments a foreign worker might make. Tackling such charged themes as the exploitat
ive representation of the Holocaust or scatological fantasies, the confessions c
onstitute a peculiar speech act in which the speakers ignore what they say.
