I’m pleased to write you today regarding the New Nurse Graduate Residency Program in the
intensive care unit posted on your hospital’s website. As a recent graduate from the University
of Arizona’s nursing program, I believe my education and clinical experiences make me a great
candidate for the job.

The bachelors of science in nursing program at the University of Arizona has provided me with
thorough assessment skills and a strong knowledge base for delivering optimal patient-centered
care. My recent preceptorship in the intensive care unit at your hospital has fostered the
opportunity to further develop my communication, time management, and organizational skills.
This, in addition to being detail-oriented, levelheaded, and a team player will allow me to make a
significant contribution to the ICU.

Nursing school was a challenge that required immense time management and organizational
skills, as well as virtues such as patience, dedication, and resilience. It also taught me the
importance of working together as a team. I believe that the challenging environment of the ICU
will allow me to offer these skills and virtues to provide effective, efficient, and equitable care to
the healthcare community, patients, and their families.
