Obesity Newsletter

We are surrounded by fast food restaurants. When we see a place that we like, we

continuously go there because we crave it. Eating too much fast food is now causing severe

obesity in adults and is also rising, increasing their risks of developing heart disease, diabetes

and various cancers. Why are we not cooking at home for our families? Our excuse is either,

“I’m working late” or “I’m too tired”.

If you look at the big picture, fast food restaurants aren’t helping us, they are killing us.

We are infecting ourselves with food that is not healthy. “Among Americans ages 2 to 19, 18.5

percent were obese in the 2015 and 2016, while 5.6 percent were severely obese.” (American

Adults Just Keep Getting Fatter by By Matt Richtel and Andrew Jacobs). Fast food is the fastest

method to satisfying our hunger. They make it easy with drive-thru windows, curb side pick-up

or even delivery. Seeing that proves how lazy we are. It’s a grab-n-go.

Let discuss the children of all ages. Are parents to blame for the food they are feeding

their children? I bet some of your answers are yes, but if you think about it, it’s the restaurants

that we all crave.
