Should You Rent Or Buy Powder Skis?

Wondering if you should get a set of powder skis? If you reside in an area that gets lots
of snowfall, and ski more than 2-3 powder days annually, it's definitely in your best
interest to really get your own equipment. Here's why:

1. Renting powder skis takes away from your own time on the slopes. Anyone who has
skied in deep powder on powder skis knows the glorious feeling you obtain from getting
fresh tracks on a run. When you yourself have to hold back for the ski shop to open, fill
out the correct forms and waiver and watch for a fitting, there may possibly not be much
powder left by the time you hit the slopes.

2. Renting premium skis costs upward of $40 per day. Why throw all that money into
rentals once you could own your own pair? Just a couple powder days all on your own
skis can pay for themselves!

3. Supply and demand. On an ideal powder day, the ski shop at your mountain will
probably be sold out... of powder skis! That could be the most disappointing realization
of all. That you're missing out on a day of powder without the appropriate equipment.

You will see that owning your personal couple of powder skis can definitely pay off if
you live in a snowy area. If you're from a place that doesn't get a lot of snow, you should
look at renting them as needed. However, if you are going on a ski a vacation in a
location that gets lots of snowfall, you may consider renting a set in advance- just to
have while you are there. As mentioned above, the past thing you intend to do is stand
in line at the rental shop while all of the locals are receiving fresh tracks.
