Grading Rubric For Short Answer Questions

To get a PERFECT SCORE, (5) five points each, you must:

 Answer all questions in complete sentences.


 Demonstrate an outstanding knowledge of the material(s).
 Have minimal spelling and/or grammar mistakes.
 Use the question in your answer.
 Uses specific examples from the text as proof.
 Provide detailed/clear explanation of your answer.

To get an ABOVE AVERAGE SCORE, (4) four points each, you must:

 Answer most of the questions in complete sentences.


 Demonstrate an above average knowledge of the material(s).
 Have few spelling and/or grammar mistakes.
 Use general examples or paraphrases from the text.
 Provide an explanation of your answer.

To get a AVERAGE SCORE, (3) three points each, you must:

 Answer some of the questions in complete sentences.


 Demonstrate that you have some basic idea of the material(s).
 May have some spelling and/or grammar mistakes. (It’s not that hard)
 Use vague examples or references from the text.
 Provide a vague explanation.

To receive a CLOSE BUT NOT PASSING SCORE, (2) two points each, you must:

 Answer the questions.


 Demonstrate that you have a clue.
 Have something down on paper that resembles words.
 Use the slightest references to the text.

TO receive a FAILING SCORE, (1) one point, you must:

 Oh come on you really thought this was a real category?


 You don’t even have a complete sentence.
 It’s jibberish and makes NO sense.
