Growing and Developing Professionally

TAT Meeting
2/26/19
Kylie Dowell

My cooperating teacher is on the TAT team. The TAT team is a teacher assistant team

that is held when a teacher or parent is seeking additional support and resources to assist a

child’s progress. The teachers in Kennebec elementary are chosen to be on this team. This is

something that I am highly interested in being a part of when I have a teaching job. The

meeting discussed students who could potentially be held back or ones who could possibly

qualify for special education. The teachers on the team brain storm different ways that things

could be done in the classroom to help that student succeed. If a student is brought back into

the TAT meeting 3 times that mean something needs to be done like retention or special

education testing.

I really enjoyed this meeting and all the teachers seemed to work together to come to

the best decision that will benefit that child the most. I feel that attending these meetings and

being a part of these types of organizations can really benefit a teacher and assist in them

developing and growing professionally.
