What Factors Contribute to

Stress Level

The Survey Process
● 90 students were interviewed on how stress affects their lives.
● 66 were female, 23 were male, and 1 was non-binary.
● The factors considered were gender, hours of sleep in a single night, time spent
studying or doing homework in a single week, time spent working in a single
week, and what college each student is an attendee of.
● It was then determined which of these factors contributed the most to stress level
Which factors contribute most to stress
based on Gender
● Males- amount of sleep 34.8%, homework/schoolwork 56.5%, time spent
working 8.7%
● Females- amount of sleep 26.1%,homework/schoolwork 84.8%, time spent
working 6.1%
Stress Levels vs. Work hours
● Ranges focused on (0-15), (16-30), (31-45)
● Stress levels inputted on a scale from 1-10
● Positive Correlation between hours work
and stress felt
● Majority of students, regardless of hours
worked feel a stress level of 6-7.
Factor that Contributes to Stress the Most
● Factors/ Percentages of Participants
○ Amount of Sleep- 17%
○ Schoolwork/Homework- 77%
○ Time spent at Work- 6%
● Schoolwork/ Homework is the dominant
factor of stress for these 90 ASU students
Analysis
We found that the amount of schoolwork students have is the most prevalent
factor contributing to stress.
If we were to redo this project we would ask more open ended questions to give
students a chance to give us specific details so we can understand what they
find most stressful about schoolwork, or the type of schoolwork that tends to
give students the most anxiety.
