Music Reaction Paper

In Symphony No. 5, it started with the violins and cellos. It sounded

like something grand is about to happen or like danger is coming. This was

conveyed in the video by showing bundles of strays of light and big bunch

of black butterflies passing through clouds. The colors and visuals matched

the music by telling a story without uttering a single word. In Pines of

Rome, it started with the harp and piano which sounded magical. When

the whale was isolated, the flute and harp played a high and slow music

which sounded sad. The sound slowly increased its loudness when a group

of whales started swimming in the sky. Rhapsody in blue started with the

brass and piano which is like a city sound. The fast rhythm is what made it

sound like the city. The repetitive sudden blow of the trumpet was

illustrated by a big crowd going out of a hotel again and again. Piano

Concerto No. 2 matched the video because of its military-like music. The

marching sound was visualized by the toy soldiers also marching. The

carnival of animals started the day with a magical music played by the
piano, violin, and cello. Every blow to the flute was concurrent with the

whiplash of the flamingo. Sorcerer’s Apprentice started with a slow and

high music which sounded sad. The flute made it sound so wizard-like.

The trumpet made a magical and marching music. Pomp and

Circumstance has the common graduation music in it. The graduation

music is perfect when there are a lot of people or animals marching. The

Firebird started with a typical winter morning which is accompanied by a

slow music. When the story was about to end and everything was already

fixed, a grand music played.

In conclusion, Fantasia 2000 showed us how music is not just a bunch

of notes joined together. Music is something that conveys or tells us a story.

We are accustomed to telling a story through words, but this movie

thought us how music itself can already tell you what is happening

without the help of words. It also showed us how music can give us a vibe

that can be visualized in a way that it’s just like a movie.
