Centripetal Forces in the European Union

In the European Union(EU), there are several centripetal forces that play a role in

economic, political, and cultural cooperation. To begin with, centripetal forces help the EU’s

economy. For instance, the euro has brought together the economies of several countries and

now they can cooperate easily with each other. Another way that centripetal forces work to help

countries work together economically is by creating a big trade bloc that makes the EU a much

more powerful trade partner rather than individual countries. In addition to helping economic

cooperation, centripetal forces also create strong political ties. For example, the EU encourages

its people to think of themselves as citizens of Europe, which gives members of all the countries

common ground. Plus, it also lets citizens of the EU live or work in other member countries.

Finally, centripetal forces help the EU develop their culture. A few examples of this is the EU

motto, flag and national anthem, which help increase European pride. Similarly, the EU has

created Europe Day to celebrate being a part of the EU. As you can see, there are several

centripetal forces that help members of the European Union cooperate.
