UI Greek Sustainability Council Proposal

Sustainability Councils for Greek Communities are being developed at innovative, forward
thinking universities across the United States. Creating a Greek Sustainability Council at the
University of Idaho will put our community “on the map,” and communicate a message that
we are serious about sustainability and engaging best practices.

Why should you care about this council?

This council will work towards helping each chapter save money through implementing
energy conservation and sustainability. Imagine what your chapter could do with an extra
$3,000 a year!

What is in it for you?

The Greek community have traditionally been known as leaders on campus, and what better
way to display this than kickstarting the sustainability movement across campus? This shows
that the Greek Community cares about the U of I and displays the initiative and innovation of
Greeks.

What do you get from this council?

Invaluable Experience - Adding the fact that you were on a Sustainability Council shows
how innovative and dedicated you are towards solving real life problems
Environmental Protection – Being a part of this council means working towards lowering the
carbon footprint of the campus, which benefits not just you, but everyone around the world
