Đặt mình vào tư thế của người thầy dạy sinh viên, của người có kiến thức nhưng chỉ tạm thời quên

Wikitionary: không có đất để giải thích tại sao thuật ngữ lại hợp lý cho lĩnh vực này, lại không hợp lý cho
lĩnh vực khác. Không giải thích được tại sao thuật ngữ cũ lại không nên sử dụng

Các bước dịch một thuật ngữ cho lĩnh vực X (một trang web thuật ngữ phải đảm bảo các bước này được
giải quyết một cách nhanh chóng):
1. Tìm các cách dịch có sẵn, từ từ điển thông thường và các từ điển chuyên ngành khác
2. Hiểu được nội dung của nó, rồi tạo ra thuật ngữ mới
3. Lý giải tại sao nó lại phù hợp trong lĩnh vực X. Đưa ra ví dụ
4. Cộng đồng bình chọn các đề cử tốt nhất

VD: Heuristics có thể dịch là mẹo vặt, lối tắt, kinh nghiệm dân gian, nhưng trong ngành khoa học nhận
thức thì nó nên được dịch là gì? Tại sao?

Software setup
Let's say you have a 13'' laptop screen. You will be quickly overload with the number of programs need
to keep open. The simplest way to manage screen estate is just buying a separate 19'' screen. But if you
can't/don't want to, the solution is to install a multi desktop program.

I use VirtualWin because it has these features:

• Auto assigning programs to their appropriate desktop,
• Lots of addons
• A tray icon indicating which desktop I am

Here is how I set things up:

• Desktop 1: source and translation in half screen (PDF|Word)
• Desktop 2: ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎
○ Browser: research, English word definition
○ Dictionaries:
○ Word:
○ PDF: 2 columns

Word vs CAT
At first, it seems that CAT is much better than Word for translation. I mean, if it's not better, then why
do people have to invent it? However, for non-technical translation, in which a term may have different
translation options, each of them has different subtleties, then relying on term base or translation
memory may not be appropriate. It is possible that for a same word within a same book you have to use
different translations for it.

Disadvantages of Word over CAT:

• No parallel scrolling between source and translation. This can be mitigated by writing a script
• No track change, no record track change, no comment to read
• No tags for printing

Disadvantages of CAT over Word:

• Ultimately, you need to export the document to Word make use of comments and track changes
• Term base and translation memory are not suitable when a single word needs to be re-translated
every time
• Segmentation breaks inter-paragraph flow (for texts whose meanings can change depending on its
typography)

If you want to support open-source software, note that Writer has issues with footnotes in large
documents though. I once lost a work because the format suddenly corrupted and couldn't be opened.

But for technical works, I recommend using CAT over Word.
