Stewart
Letter of Recommendation
April 26, 2019

I am honored to write a letter of recommendation for Kristin Stewart. She is a woman who
has high ethical standards and extraordinary drive. Her ability to teach transcends all
grades and ages. As an upper elementary school teacher, she will relate well to students,
establishing relationships and expectations for success.

I have known her for a year and a half in my role as site coordinator for the Indigenous
Teacher Preparation Program (ITEP) in which I taught professional practices and observed
her in the classroom with children at Oyama Elementary School and at Vesey K-8 School.
The first observation was memorable. She was working with a small group of second
graders leading a lesson demonstrating the skill, direction, and joy of a seasoned teacher.
Given her previous assistant teaching experiences it is clear she is destined to be an
educator. Her mentor teachers said she was responsible and an excellent teacher. I
observed these capabilities as well and found her interactions with students both warm
and professional. She sought to learn from every opportunity. As a student, she listened
carefully, was responsible, and submitted high quality work. Throughout our three
semesters together she expressed and honored her heritage. I learned as much from the
ITEP students as they from me. Kristin worked well in groups and was generous with her
talent. She has a maturity, strength and sensitivity supporting her interactions with
everyone. She is a leader among her peers and well respected by all.

I have every reason to believe she will be an asset to your school. She is well prepared to
teach, work with Indigenous students, and develop curriculum to meet their needs. Her
commitment to revitalization of Indigenous cultures and languages is genuine and strong.
She understands the power of identity to empower children, develop resilience, and
achieve their goals.

Kristin is a strong teacher. I recommend her highly for all teaching positions.

Sincerely,

Diana Hill
