The sandstone cave named Krem Puri, near the village of Laitsohum in the Mawsynram, was first

discovered in 2016, but during the recent 25-day expedition by the Meghalaya Adventurers’ Association
(MAA), the actual length of the cave was uncovered. It is 6,000m longer than the current listed sandstone
cave in the world, Cueva El Samán, (18,200m) in Venezuela.

Krem Liat Prah: The longest natural cave in India, Krem Liat Prah is among the 150 already
discovered caves in the Shnongrim Ridge of Jaintia Hills. According to the survey, its current length of
about 25 kilometers will be increased as nearby caves continue to be linked.

Meghalaya is just the one place for having 780 caves in the State, still many to be explored. In
the same hill, other caves are the cave of Eocene Age - Krem Um-Lawan, Krem Kotsati, Krem
Umshangktat, Krem Lashinng, Krem Sweep. Prominent caves in Meghalaya are set in the
villages of Amlarem, Pdengshakap, Syndai and Nongtalang. Caving in Meghalaya is a
comparatively new escapade which attracts number of tourists to India's northeastern state.
Caving in Meghalaya is only done under the guidance of a skilled cave guide.
