Competition Rules

1. Eligibility: This competition is open to any year that interest to join in.
2. Team: Each team should comprise 5 to 15 pupils accompanied by 2 teachers.
Performers and musicians should be from these 5 to 15 (if any) team members.
3. Time: On-stage presentation is allocated 5 to 8 minutes. Marks will be
deducted thereafter. 2 minutes is allocated for stage arrangements, with the
teachers as stage technicians.
4. Theme: Choice/selection of theme is open.
5. Lyrics: Lyrics can be original or adapted from any authentic texts.
6. Contestants are not allowed to refer to any notes or texts during presentation.
7. Copies of the lyrics must be submitted to the organizers before the
performance.
8. Lyrics should not touch on sensitive issues such as race, religion, colour,
personalities, politics, etc.
9. Presentation: Creativity is encouraged. Nevertheless, movements should not
exceed and overwhelm the articulation of the song by the contestants. Miming
is not allowed. Presentation should be confined to the stage.
10. Background/Props: Background aids and props should be minimal. No
extra marks are given.
11. Costume/Attire: Participants should wear appropriate and decent attire
that suits the characters they portray.
12. Music: Use of recorded music is allowed. Hand over all softcopy to the
management and inform any information needs during the performance.
13. Use of musical instruments is allowed. However, musicians must sing
and perform together with the team members during presentation.
14. Judges: The competition shall be judged by an odd numbered panel of 3
or 5 judges.
15. Decisions: The decisions of the judges are final. Any complaints and
objections will not be entertained.
16. Points will be allocated according to the score sheet and aggregated.
17. Judges will collectively determine the placing by a clear majority vote.
18. Certificates of participation will be awarded to all participating teams.
