SUMMARY
Deltamethrin Tecinical was tested for its skin irritation potential in New Zealand White rabbits as
per the guidelines laid down by "Gaitonde Committee Recommendations, Central Insecticides
Board, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India’.
The test article, Deltamethrin Technical, in the amount of 0.5 g was applied to intact and abraded
clipped back skin sites of three rabbits per sex. The site of application was covered with gauize
patch which was secured with adhesive tape. The test article was kept in contact for 24 hours
followed by removal of dressing and washing the site of application. Skin reaction was evaluated
at each site of application following Draize's method at 24 and 72 hours after application
The results indicate that, Deltamethrin Technical did not cause skin reaction as observed at 24,
and 72 hours after the patch was removed. No other signs of toxicity were seen In any of the
treated animals. The Primary Skin Irritation index was zero (0.00) as determined from the scores of
the skin reactions
Based on the Primary Skin Irritation index, the test article, Deltamethrin Technical Is to be
Classified as non-trritant to skin of the rabbit, as defined in the criteria for evaluation.
