To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to apply for the nutrition education aid work-study job advertised on the UNM jobs
page. As a nutrition and dietetics major at the University of New Mexico, I believe I would make a great
addition to your team.
I am double majoring in nutrition and dietetics and German. As a nutrition major, I hope to pursue
a career as a registered dietitian with a focus on public health. I believe cooking nourishing meals is not only
essential to wellness but is also a lot of fun. Of course, a large part of a career as a dietitian is finding ways to
create wholesome meals that fit with an individual’s unique culture and lifestyle while being healthy.
Along with my studies, I am a member of several health-related volunteer groups on campus.
These groups allow me to pursue my passion of helping others lead healthful lives. Healing Harmonies
strives to bring joy to others through music, which can help the sick heal. The Nutrition Club teaches
people in our community how to eat a nutritious, delicious diet and to find physical activities they enjoy.
I have also served in two churches as a teacher for their children’s ministries. I enjoy engaging with
kids and teaching them new information. I read stories, play games, and sing songs with them as forms of
teaching. As part of this, I have had to provide snacks for the children, keeping in mind dietary restrictions
ranging from gluten intolerance to severe peanut allergies.
In addition to my studies and volunteering, I would like to highlight some skills that will make me a
valuable asset to your team. I am open to trying new things, ranging from developing unique ways to teach
certain skills to trying new recipes and unfamiliar ingredients. I love to cook and bake, and I am flexible in
quickly handling new tasks or adapting when things may not go as expected. I am a team player and love to
work with others to see the whole group succeed.
Thank you for taking the time to look over my resume. I am excited to hear back from you about
this great work-study opportunity. I would love to join your team in teaching children how to make
wholesome meals that taste as good as they are for your health!
Sincerely,

Michaela Eckstein
