Bridget Jones’s Diary is a British romantic comedy novel written by Helen Fielding.

It is set in
2000’s London and is a fast-moving story in which Bridget’s life, the leading role, is tracked
through twelve chapters. Due to the fact that the book is written as a diary, the language used
is very frank and close. Its main character is evidently Bridget Jones, but apart from her there
are two more characters, Daniel and Mark, and all of whom are so well-developed that by the
end of the book you feel you have lived the story together with them too.

Bridget is a single woman in her early thirties, who has a lot of complexes and whose love
life is a great disaster. Wanting to change her messy life, she makes New Year’s resolutions,
such as, giving up smoking, losing weight, as well as finding a mature boyfriend. Not to forget
these resolutions Bridget begins to write a diary.

Daniel, her promiscuous boss, she works for an editorial, begins to flirts with her and they
commence a relationship, meanwhile Bridget meets Mark, a family’s friend. They are
introduced by Bridget’s parent but she doesn’t like him. Bridget thinks Mark is a rude and
boring man, moreover, Daniel and Mark who have already known for a long time, didn’t get
on well but Bridget didn’t know the true reason, she will discover it later.

In a surprise visit to Daniel’s home Bridget finds out that Daniel has an affair with a woman
more attractive and in better shape than her. Bridget feels so sad and disappointed that she
leaves her job and breaks up with him. Mark helps her to find another job and finally the fall in
love, but the problems have not finished with Daniel yet.

The book has a highly entertaining and moving plot that keeps grips you laughing from
beginning to end. The better of this novel, in my humble feel, is that it will make you forget
problems during the reading, since, it will have you roaring with laughter like me!

All things considered I would thoroughly recommend reading Bridget Jones’s Diary to whom
maybe is interested in have a funny experience like me! You know, Sweet things never made
anyone bitter.
