Caitlin is an exceptional young woman with a bright future. Rarely do I see students with such a high level of enthusiasm, self-discipline and compassion for others. Thad the pleasure of teaching Caitlin in her third year of studying Spanish. She is a delightful student with strong vocabulary skills and quick acquisition of concepts. Even ‘when initially challenged by a lesson, she shows admirable work ethic. She is always prepared, enthusiastic and willing to work with anyone in class. She helps those in her group who are struggling. This last gesture stems from a “servant heart” which is obvious in more than one way. Caitlin is a faithful member of the WHS Key Club. The club meets weekly and serves the community with monthly events. Caitlin’s compassionate view of the world coincides beautifully with the philosophy of this club: to create student leaders through service to others. As the faculty advisor of the club, I have seen Caitlin Christmas shop with underprivileged children, volunteer at school fundraisers, empty school recycling bins and perform a myriad of other tasks. She served as the club's Vice President for one year before serving as President for the last two.. As such, she has organized major charity events which have collected thousands of dollars for hurricane relief efforts, homeless shelters and local food pantries! Many times I have witnessed Caitlin completing the less glamorous tasks long after others have left an event. I wholeheartedly believe that Caitlin will find success in any endeavor to which she applies her efforts. She would be a true asset to any college campus fortunate enough to welcome her.
