Project - “The Happy


Little Monster” GRADE: 11 YEARS OLD

DIFFICULTY FROM 1 TO 5: 4

In this leaflet you are invited to construct a happy little monster, made of cardboard. When
you pet its ear, it will swing its tongue and its eyes will be lit up.

Please follow the instructions step by step.

Materials:

Little Bits: Power, Pressure Sensor, Long Led (χ2), Servo Motor, Branch, Wire (you can find the
“Little Bits’ Dictionary”, on previous Worksheet)

1. Use a shoe box and cut it out as shown at the images below.

2. Draw the monster’s tongue and ears, using the paper you have cut out from the shoe
box.

3. Open the box and stick two pieces of cardboard, in order to keep it always opened.

4. Sketch two eyes on the upper side of the box and cut them out. Cover the slots with
colored paper.

5. Use the Servo Motor. Stick the tongue on the little wing and place it inside the box.
Make stable by using tape.

6. Put on line the little bits, as indicated in the above image.

Do not forget to
place the power bit
in the beginning.

7. Place them inside the box and use tape to stabilize them.

8. Stick one ear on the pressure sensor. Get the pressure sensor through the hole of the
upper side of the box.

9. If you want to personalize your happy little monster…


Place two plastic cups to make your monster’s feet.

Color your monster.
