TEMPERANCE

We believe that God has given us a command to be temperate or to do all things in

moderation while eliminating other things from our bodies altogether, (I CORINTHIANS 9:25)
"AND EVERY MAN THAT STRIVETH FOR THE MASTERY IS TEMPERATE IN ALL
THINGS. NOW THEY DO IT TO OBTAIN A CORRUPTIBLE CROWN; BUT WE AN
INCORRUPTIBLE." (II PETER 1:5-6) (5) "AND BESIDE THIS, GIVING ALL DILIGENCE,
ADD TO YOUR FAITH VIRTUE; AND TO VIRTUE KNOWLEDGE; (6) AND TO
KNOWLEDGE TEMPERANCE; AND TO TEMPERANCE PATIENCE; AND TO PATIENCE
GODLINESS;"

We believe God wants us to have good health, as far as possible, (III JOHN 2)
"BELOVED, I WISH ABOVE ALL THINGS THAT THOU MAYEST PROSPER AND BE IN

HEALTH, EVEN AS THY SOUL PROSPERETH."

We believe that God has commanded us to put a difference between the clean and unclean
meats that He created for us to eat. Who knows better as to what flesh meats we should eat-or
not eat-than the God who created them, and us. God has given this health message to all of
humanity that will do His will unto obedience. (I JOHN 2:17) "AND THE WORLD PASSETH
AWAY, AND THE LUST THEREOF: BUT HE THAT DOETH THE WILL OF GOD
ABIDETH FOR EVER." (LEVITICUS 11:46-47) (46) "THIS IS THE LAW OF THE
BEASTS, AND OF THE FOWL, AND OF EVERY LIVING CREATURE THAT MOVETH IN
THE WATERS, AND OF EVERY CREATURE THAT CREEPETH UPON THE EARTH:
(47) TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE UNCLEAN AND THE CLEAN, AND
BETWEEN THE BEAST THAT MAY BE
EATEN AND THE BEAST THAT MAY NOT BE EATEN."
(II CORINTHIANS 6:17) "WHEREFORE COME OUT FROM
AMONG THEM, AND BE YE SEPARATE, SAITH THE
LORD, AND TOUCH NOT THE UNCLEAN THING; AND I
WILL RECEIVE YOU." (EZEKIEL 44:23) "AND THEY
SHALL TEACH MY PEOPLE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
THE HOLY AND PROFANE, AND CAUSE THEM TO
DISCERN BETWEEN THE UNCLEAN AND THE CLEAN."
(EZEKIEL 22:26) "HER PRIESTS HAVE VIOLATED MY
LAW, AND HAVE PROFANED MINE HOLY THINGS:
THEY HAVE PUT NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE HOLY
AND PROFANE, NEITHER HAVE THEY SHEWED
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE UNCLEAN AND THE
CLEAN, AND HAVE HID THEIR EYES FROM MY
SABBATHS, AND I AM PROFANED AMONG THEM."
(LEVITICUS 10:10) "AND THAT YE MAY PUT A
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOLY AND UNHOLY, AND
BETWEEN UNCLEAN AND CLEAN;”
We believe that God’s faithful church is a holy and peculiar
people. What makes us peculiar is our obedience to God,
(DEUTERONOMY 14:2) “FOR THOU ART AN HOLY
PEOPLE UNTO THE LORD THY GOD, AND THE LORD
HATH CHOSEN THEE TO BE A PECULIAR PEOPLE UNTO
HIMSELF, ABOVE ALL THE NATIONS THAT ARE UPON
THE EARTH.” (I Peter 2:9; Deut. 26:18; Titus 2:14).

The following are the clean beasts that we may eat thereof
with thanksgiving: (LEVITICUS 11:2-3) (2) “SPEAK UNTO
THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, SAYING, THESE ARE THE
BEASTS WHICH YE SHALL EAT AMONG ALL THE
BEASTS THAT ARE ON THE EARTH. (3) WHATSOEVER
PARTETH THE HOOF, AND IS CLOVEN-FOOTED, AND
CHEWETH THE CUD, AMONG THE BEASTS, THAT
SHALL YE EAT.”

The following are the clean marine life that we may eat
thereof with thanksgiving: (LEVITICUS 11:9) “THESE SHALL
YE EAT OF ALL THAT ARE IN THE WATERS:
WHATSOEVER HATH FINS AND SCALES IN THE
WATERS, IN THE SEAS, AND IN THE RIVERS, THEM
SHALL YE EAT.”

The following are the clean fowls that we may eat thereof
with thanksgiving: Chicken, turkey, pheasants, dove, quail, and
grouse...

The following are the unclean meats that we may not eat
thereof: (LEVITICUS 11:4-7) (4) “NEVERTHELESS THESE
SHALL YE NOT EAT OF THEM THAT CHEW THE CUD,
OR OF THEM THAT DIVIDE THE HOOF; AS THE CAMEL,
BECAUSE HE CHEWETH THE CUD, BUT DIVIDETH NOT
THE HOOF; HE IS UNCLEAN UNTO YOU. (5) AND THE
CONEY, BECAUSE HE CHEWETH THE CUD, BUT
DIVIDETH NOT THE HOOF; HE IS UNCLEAN UNTO YOU.
(6) AND THE HARE, BECAUSE HE CHEWETH THE CUD,
BUT DIVIDETH NOT THE HOOF; HE IS UNCLEAN UNTO
YOU. (7) AND THE SWINE, THOUGH HE DIVIDE THE
HOOF, AND BE CLOVENFOOTED, YET HE CHEWETH
NOT THE CUD; HE IS UNCLEAN TO YOU.”

The following are the unclean marine life that we may not eat
thereof: (LEVITICUS 11: 10-12) (10) “AND ALL THAT
HAVE NOT FINS AND SCALES IN THE SEAS, AND IN
THE RIVERS, OF ALL THAT MOVE IN THE WATERS,
AND OF ANY LIVING THING WHICH IS IN THE WATERS,
THEY SHALL BE AN ABOMINATION UNTO YOU: (11)
THEY SHALL EVEN BE AN ABOMINATION UNTO YOU;
YE SHALL NOT EAT OF THEIR FLESH, BUT YE SHALL
HAVE THEIR CARCASES IN ABOMINATION. (12)
WHATSOEVER HATH NO FINS NOR SCALES IN THE
WATERS, THAT SHALL BE AN ABOMINATION UNTO
YOU.”

The following are the unclean fowls that we may not eat
thereof: (LEVITICUS 11:13-20 (13) “AND THESE ARE
THEY WHICH YE SHALL HAVE IN ABOMINATION
AMONG THE FOWLS; THEY SHALL NOT BE EATEN,
THEY ARE AN ABOMINATION: THE EAGLE, AND THE
OSSIFRAGE (Sea eagle, seagull, the albatross, or any fish-
eating eagle), AND THE OSPRAY, (14) AND THE
VULTURE, AND THE KITE AFTER HIS KIND (various
hawks); (15) EVERY RAVEN AFTER HIS KIND; (16) AND
THE OWL, AND THE NIGHT HAWK, AND THE CUCKOW
(seagull), AND THE HAWK AFTER HIS KIND, (17) AND
THE LITTLE OWL, AND THE COMORANT, AND THE
GREAT OWL, (18) AND THE SWAN, AND THE PELICAN,
AND THE GIER EAGLE (type of vulture), (19) AND THE
STORK, THE HERON AFTER HER KIND, AND THE
LAPWING (woodcock, a plover, related to the sandpiper
family), AND THE BAT. (20) ALL FOWLS THAT CREEP,
GOING UPON ALL FOUR, SHALL BE AN ABOMINATION
UNTO YOU.”

We believe that God has duly warned His faithful church to

keep themselves from committing the “abomination” because
God has “separated His people” (or church) from the rest of
humanity. He has commanded us to be holy because He is holy,
and we can not do that by being disobedient and by refusing to
put a difference between the clean and unclean meats. This is
important to God and to His church, (LEVITICUS 20:25-26)
(25) “YE SHALL THEREFORE PUT DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN CLEAN BEASTS AND UNCLEAN, AND
BETWEEN UNCLEAN FOWLS AND CLEAN: AND YE
SHALL NOT MAKE YOUR SOULS ABOMINABLE BY
BEAST, OR BY FOWL, OR BY ANY MANNER OF LIVING
THING THAT CREEPETH ON THE GROUND, WHICH I
HAVE SEPARATED FROM YOU AS UNCLEAN. (26) AND
YE SHALL BE HOLY UNTO ME: FOR I THE LORD AM
HOLY, AND HAVE SEVERED YOU FROM OTHER PEOPLE,
THAT YE SHOULD BE MINE.” (I Peter 2:9). The abomination
or the abominable: (Rev. 21:8,27 and Titus 1:16).

We believe God showed a difference between the clean and

unclean meats centuries before the first Hebrew or Jew. It
was shown unto Noah (GENESIS 7:2-3,8) (2) “OF EVERY
CLEAN BEAST THOU SHALT TAKE TO THEE BY
SEVENS, THE MALE AND HIS FEMALE: AND OF
BEASTS THAT ARE NOT CLEAN BY TWO, THE MALE
AND HIS FEMALE. (3) OF FOWLS ALSO OF THE AIR BY
SEVENS, THE MALE AND THE FEMALE; TO KEEP SEED
ALIVE UPON THE FACE OF ALL THE EARTH. (8) OF
CLEAN BEASTS, AND OF BEASTS THAT ARE NOT
CLEAN, AND OF FOWLS, AND OF EVERYTHING THAT
CREEPETH UPON THE EARTH,” (Gen. 7:1-9) The reason
for the clean meats by sevens was so that Noah and his family
could eat and sacrifice to God without destroying the species.

We believe that God takes the eating of pork by His people

very seriously, because those who do so will be consumed. God
classifies the eating of the mouse and pork on the same level,
(ISAIAH 65:3-4) “A PEOPLE THAT PROVOKETH ME TO
ANGER CONTINUALLY TO MY FACE; THAT
SACRIFICETH IN GARDENS, AND BURNETH INCENSE
UPON ALTARS OF BRICK; (4) WHICH REMAIN AMONG
THE GRAVES, AND LODGE IN THE MONUMENTS,
WHICH EAT SWINES FLESH, AND BROTH OF
ABOMINABLE THINGS IS IN THEIR VESSELS;” (ISAIAH
66:17) “THEY THAT SANCTIFY THEMSELVES, AND
PURIFY THEMSELVES IN THE GARDENS BEHIND ONE
TREE IN THE MIDST, EATING SWINE’S FLESH, AND THE
ABOMINATION, AND THE MOUSE, SHALL BE
CONSUMED TOGETHER, SAITH THE LORD.”

We believe that God has commanded His people not to eat

rare meat with the blood or fat. (LEVITICUS 17:10-12,14)
(10) “AND WHATSOEVER MAN THERE BE OF THE
HOUSE OF ISRAEL, OR OF THE STRANGERS THAT
SOJOURN AMONG YOU, THAT EATETH ANY MANNER
OF BLOOD; I WILL EVEN SET MY FACE AGAINST THAT
SOUL THAT EATETH BLOOD, AND WILL CUT HIM OFF
FROM AMONG HIS PEOPLE. (11) FOR THE LIFE OF THE
FLESH IS IN THE BLOOD: AND I HAVE GIVEN IT TO YOU
UPON THE ALTAR TO MAKE AN ATONEMENT FOR
YOUR SOULS: FOR IT IS THE BLOOD THAT MAKETH AN
ATONEMENT FOR THE SOUL. (12) THEREFORE I SAID
UNTO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, NO SOUL OF YOU
SHALL EAT BLOOD, NEITHER SHALL ANY STRANGER
THAT SOJOURNETH AMONG YOU EAT BLOOD. (14)
FOR IT IS THE LIFE OF ALL FLESH; THE BLOOD OF IT IS
FOR THE LIFE THEREOF: THEREFORE I SAID UNTO THE
CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, YE SHALL EAT THE BLOOD OF
NO MANNER OF FLESH: FOR THE LIFE OF ALL FLESH IS
THE BLOOD THEREOF: WHOSOEVER EATETH IT
SHALL BE CUT OFF.” (LEVITICUS 7:23-24) (23) “SPEAK
UNTO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, SAYING, YE SHALL
EAT NO MANNER OF FAT, OF OX, OR OF SHEEP, OR OF
GOAT. (24) AND THE FAT OF THE BEAST THAT DIETH
OF ITSELF, AND THE FAT OF THAT WHICH IS TORN
WITH BEASTS, MAY BE USED IN ANY OTHER USE: BUT
YE SHALL IN NO WISE EAT OF IT.” (ACTS 15:20) “BUT
THAT WE WRITE UNTO THEM, THAT THEY ABSTAIN
FROM POLLUTIONS OF IDOLS, AND FROM
FORNICATION, AND FROM THINGS STRANGLED, AND
FROM BLOOD.” (Lev. 7:26-27; Acts 21:24-25).

There are many who use the following texts to give them a
clear conscience to eat anything they want. However, this is not
true as we will see here. God says that He will not alter that
thing that has gone out from His lips, (Psalm 89:34; Malachi 3:6;
Heb. 13:8). If it was a sin centuries ago for God’s people and
church of Israel, it certainly is today. Sin never ceases to be
sin. The first texts are found in Acts 10:9-34. Peter was visiting
Simon, the tanner. While upon his roof, Peter was hungry and
went into a trance in which God showed him a sheet with all
manner of animals on it. Peter was told: “Rise, Peter, kill and
eat.” (ACTS 10:11-14,17,28) (11) “AND SAW HEAVEN
OPENED, AND A CERTAIN VESSEL DESCENDING UNTO
HIM, AS IT HAD BEEN A GREAT SHEET KNIT AT THE
FOUR CORNERS, AND LET DOWN TO THE EARTH: (12)
WHEREIN WERE ALL MANNER OF FOUR FOOTED
BEASTS OF THE EARTH, AND WILD BEASTS, AND
CREEPING THINGS, AND FOWLS OF THE AIR. (13) AND
THERE CAME A VOICE TO HIM, RISE, PETER; KILL, AND
EAT. (14) BUT PETER SAID, NOT SO, LORD; FOR I HAVE
NEVER EATEN ANYTHING THAT IS COMMON OR
UNCLEAN. (17) NOW WHILE PETER DOUBTED IN
HIMSELF WHAT THIS VISION WHICH HE HAD SEEN
SHOULD MEAN, BEHOLD THE MEN WHICH WERE SENT
FROM CORNELIUS HAD MADE INQUIRY FOR SIMON’S
HOUSE, AND STOOD BEFORE THE GATE, (28) AND HE
SAID UNTO THEM, YE KNOW HOW IT IS AN UNLAWFUL
THING FOR A MAN THAT IS A JEW TO KEEP COMPANY,
OR COME UNTO ONE OF ANOTHER NATION; BUT GOD
HATH SHEWED ME THAT I SHOULD NOT CALL ANY
MAN COMMON OR UNCLEAN.” That which was shown
positive here certainly had nothing to do with the approval by
God for Peter, or for anyone else, to eat whatsoever they desire.
Especially in view of the fact that Peter lived with Jesus for
three and one-half years and neither of them, nor any of His
followers, ate of the unclean meats; Peter made that very clear to
the Lord; he wasn't about to start now.

The point of this message actually had nothing to do with

the eating of meats, but rather with the words “common and
unclean.” The Jews called the Gentiles unclean people and
would have nothing to do with them socially or spiritually, and
this is what God changed from that time forward. The gospel
was to go to the whole world and no longer just for the Jews.
They were never to call any man or Gentile common or unclean
again, (Verse 28). This message did not alter or nullify God’s
health and dietary message for His people.

Another controversial text used to supposedly prove their

point that there is no longer a difference between the clean and
unclean meats is found in (I TIMOTHY 4:3-5) (3)
“FORBIDDING TO MARRY, AND COMMANDING TO
ABSTAIN FROM MEATS, WHICH GOD HATH CREATED
TO BE RECEIVED WITH THANKSGIVING OF THEM
WHICH BELIEVE AND KNOW THE TRUTH. (4) FOR
EVERY CREATURE OF GOD IS GOOD AND NOTHING TO
BE REFUSED, IF IT BE RECEIVED WITH THANKSGIVING:
(5) FOR IT IS SANCTIFIED BY THE WORD OF GOD AND
PRAYER.

They say that these texts prove that we can eat anything we
want. Not true! First of all, these texts state: “Which God hath
created to be received.”

Now we have to ask the question: What did God create that
we could receive or eat? Did God give us command or counsel
on this? Most emphatically! We find the answer very plain and
clear to that in Leviticus 11:1-23 and Deuteronomy 14:2-20.
The scriptures also say: “For every creature of God is good;”
yes, but only that “which He created to be received” as meat,
because there are many more that God created not to be
received. The final text that proves there is a difference between
the clean and unclean is verse 5, where it states: “for it is
sanctified (set aside) by the Word of God (the Holy Bible)” and
prayer, as stated in Leviticus, chapter eleven and Deuteronomy,
chapter fourteen. We must not ask God to bless a food or meat
that He has commanded us not to eat.

Many use the following texts erroneously to prove, once

again, that they can eat anything they want: (COLOSSIANS 2:
14,16) (14) “BLOTTING OUT THE HANDWRITING OF
ORDINANCES THAT WAS AGAINST US, WHICH WAS
CONTRARY TO US, AND TOOK IT OUT OF THE WAY,
NAILING IT TO HIS CROSS. (16) LET NO MAN
THEREFORE JUDGE YOU IN MEAT, OR IN DRINK, OR IN
RESPECT OF AN HOLY DAY, OR OF THE NEW MOON, OR
OF THE SABBATH DAYS:” Jesus did not go to the cross and
die so that we could eat anything we want, especially swine’s
flesh or pork and the unclean seafoods. Jesus did not nail the
Book of Leviticus and Deuteronomy to the cross. He did not nail
the first four books of the Bible (Pentateuch) or the entire Old
Testament to His cross. The cross represents His sacrificial
death for our sins. It represented all of “the sacrificial
ordinances” of the Old Testament (the Mosaic Laws) with all of
the Feast days, special Sabbath days, holy days, holy
convocations, and the new moons with all of their sin; meat; and
drink offerings. This was the “Book of the Law” or the
sacrificial ordinances, (Please read: Leviticus 23:4-44). This is
what the “Book of the Law” or the “sacrificial ordinances” were
about. (DEUTERONOMY 31:26) “TAKE THIS BOOK OF
THE LAW, AND PUT IT IN THE SIDE OF THE ARK OF THE
COVENANT OF THE LORD YOUR GOD, THAT IT MAY BE
THERE FOR A WITNESS AGAINST THEE.” (Hebrews 9:18-
22; Ezekiel 45:15-19; I Chronicles 23:31-32; II Chronicles 8:12-
13; Nehemiah 10:33; etc). All of these preceding scriptural
sacrificial laws or ordinances is what Jesus nailed to His
cross. Scripture says: “Let no man judge you in meat, or in
drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the
Sabbath days.” All of these were steeped or filled with the old
“sacrificial laws” or ordinances, which the orthodox Christian
Jews were still holding on to and demanding that they still be
kept. They were creating great controversies and confusion in
the early church, and this is what Paul is saying here.

What made these ordinances contrary to us was all of the

sacrificial rituals, the sacrificial holy sabbath days and feast
days that had to be kept, along with the expensive offering of
animals for their sins and having to watch the animals being
slaughtered because of their iniquities. This certainly was
contrary and was meant to be a deterrent in keeping them from
sinning. This is what Jesus took out of our way, nailing it to His
cross. It certainly had nothing to do with our diet.

We believe that it is God’s will that His faithful followers

abstain from all alcoholic beverages, tobacco in all of its forms,
illegal drugs, or anything that would not be acceptable to God.
We believe that the Christian can not glorify God while being
partakers of these worldly vices and addictions. All of these
things are known to defile the body that God has given us, which
is not our own. (I CORINTHIANS 3:16-17) (16) “KNOW YE
NOT THAT YE ARE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, AND THAT
THE SPIRIT OF GOD DWELLETH IN YOU? (17) IF ANY
MAN DEFILE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, HIM SHALL GOD
DESTROY; FOR THE TEMPLE OF GOD IS HOLY, WHICH
TEMPLE YE ARE.” (I CORINTHIANS 6:19-20) (19)
“WHAT? KNOW YE NOT THAT YOUR BODY IS THE
TEMPLE OF THE HOLY GHOST WHICH IS IN YOU,
WHICH YE HAVE OF GOD, AND YE ARE NOT YOUR
OWN? (20) FOR YE ARE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE:
THEREFORE GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY, AND IN
YOUR SPIRIT, WHICH ARE GOD’S.”

We find here that these body temples are very important to

God, that we are not our own, and that we will be answerable
for whatsoever we take into - or whatsoever we do unto - these
bodies that belong to God.

This is what God says about alcoholic (fermented)

beverages, (PROVERBS 20:1) “WINE IS A MOCKER,
STRONG DRINK IS RAGING: AND WHOSOEVER IS
DECEIVED THEREBY IS NOT WISE.” (PROVERBS 23:31-
32) (31) “LOOK NOT THOU UPON THE WINE WHEN IT IS
RED, WHEN IT GIVETH HIS COLOUR IN THE CUP, WHEN
IT MOVETH ITSELF ARIGHT. (32) AT THE LAST IT
BITETH LIKE A SERPENT, AND STINGETH LIKE AN
ADDER.” When wine or juice of the grapes begins to move
itself, it is fermenting and turning to alcohol. Alcohol in the
mouth burns or stings like the poison of a snake bite.

Drunkards and alcoholics begin with their first sip and

gradually succumb to its addiction. Most alcoholics do not
believe they are. How many people are in their graves because
of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs? There are countless numbers.
Does God condone this? No, indeed. Law enforcement
confirms that alcohol is involved in just about every crime that is
committed.

We believe that the miracle of the wine at Cana that Jesus

performed and drank was the “new wine” (unfermented) or the
pure blood or juice of the grape. (ISAIAH 65:8) “THUS
SAITH THE LORD, AS THE NEW WINE IS FOUND IN THE
CLUSTER, AND ONE SAITH, DESTROY IT NOT; FOR A
BLESSING IS IN IT: SO WILL I DO FOR MY SERVANTS’
SAKES, THAT I MAY NOT DESTROY THEM.”
(DEUTERONOMY 32:14) “BUTTER OF KINE, AND MILK
OF SHEEP, WITH FAT OF LAMBS, AND RAMS OF THE
BREED OF BASHAN, AND GOATS, WITH THE FAT OF
KIDNEYS OF WHEAT; AND THOU DIDST DRINK THE
PURE BLOOD OF THE GRAPE.” (Lev. 10:1-10).

We believe that unrepentant drunkards will not enter into

the kingdom of heaven, (GALATIANS 5:19,21) (19) “NOW
THE WORKS OF THE FLESH ARE MANIFEST, WHICH
ARE THESE; ADULTERY, FORNICATION, UNCLEANESS,
LASCIVIOUSINESS, (21) ENVYINGS, MURDERS,
DRUNKENESS, REVELLINGS, AND SUCH LIKE: WHICH I
TELL YOU BEFORE, AS I HAVE ALSO TOLD YOU IN TIME
PAST, THAT THEY WHICH DO SUCH THINGS SHALL NOT
INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD." (I CORINTHIANS 6:9-
10) (9) “KNOW YE NOT THAT THE UNRIGHTEOUS
SHALL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD? BE NOT
DECEIVED: NEITHER FORNICATORS, NOR IDOLATERS,
NOR ADULTERERS, NOR EFFEMINATE, NOR
ABUSERS OF THEM- SELVES WITH MANKIND, (10)
NOR THIEVES, NOR COVETOUS, NOR DRUNKARDS,
NOR REVILERS, NOR EXTORTIONERS, SHALL INHERIT
THE KINGDOM OF GOD.” (Rom. 13:13; Luke 12:45-46;
Luke 21:34; Joel 1:5,15; Nahum 1:10; Isa. 5:11-13, 22-24;
Prov. 23:20-21, 29-32; Deut. 21:18-21).

We believe that it is wrong to contribute or give another

person alcoholic beverages, (HABAKKUK 2:15) “WOE
UNTO HIM THAT GIVETH HIS NEIGHBOUR DRINK, THAT
PUTTEST THY BOTTLE TO HIM, AND MAKEST HIM
DRUNKEN ALSO, THAT THOU MAYEST LOOK ON THEIR
NAKEDNESS.” Alcohol loosens the tongue and causes a
person to reveal the nakedness of their mind and their inner-most
private and personal matters. Alcohol also opens the door of the
mind to allow evil to do its ugly work. In most cases, a sober
mind would not say or do the things a mind under the influence of
alcohol or drugs would do. Alcohol changes the demeanor of
individuals. It is a scientific medical fact that alcohol destroys
brain cells; it has also destroyed families, lives, careers,
personal esteem and without repentance, it destroys eternal life.
Would God condone any chemical to be taken into the body that
could cause this much physical, mental, material, and spiritual
destruction? We do not believe so.

We believe that gluttony or over-eating to the point of causing a health problem is against
the will and purpose of God for His people, (PROVERBS 23:21) “FOR THE DRUNKARD
AND THE GLUTTON SHALL COME TO POVERTY: AND DROWSINESS SHALL CLOTH
A MAN WITH RAGS.” This poverty that God speaks of here can be materialistic poverty
and/or spiritual poverty. God looks on the glutton and the drunkard alike as equal partners who
will both share the same final results at the time of the judgment, (Deut. 21:20-21).

We believe that all clothing and jewelry is to be worn as that which becometh Christian
men, women, and children. Large, gaudy jewelry and/or excessive jewelry is unacceptable
to God and is not to be worn in the church or outside of the church. The wearing of jewelry and
facial make-up must be worn with simplicity and in moderation. This is acceptable to God.
(EXODUS 33:5) “FOR THE LORD HAD SAID UNTO MOSES, SAY UNTO THE
CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, YE ARE A STIFFNECKED PEOPLE: I WILL COME UP INTO
THE MIDST OF THEE IN A MOMENT, AND CONSUME THEE: THEREFORE NOW PUT
OFF THY ORNAMENTS (jewelry) FROM THEE, THAT I MAY KNOW WHAT TO DO
UNTO THEE.” (I TIMOTHY 2:9-10) (9) “IN LIKE MANNER ALSO, THAT WOMEN
ADORN THEM-SELVES (jewelry and clothing) IN MODEST APPAREL, WITH
SHAMEFACEDNESS AND SOBRIETY; NOT WITH BRAIDED HAIR, OR GOLD, OR
PEARLS, OR COSTLY ARRAY; (10) BUT (WHICH BECOMETH WOMEN PROFESSING
GODLINESS) WITH GOOD WORKS.” (Exodus 33:15; Jer. 4:30; I Peter 3:1-4;
Isa.3:11,13,16-24; Hosea 2:12-13; Ezek. 23:39-40; The apostate woman or church decked with
jewelry: Rev. 17:4).

We believe that bodily exercise profits little and should not be done to the excess, (I
TIMOTHY 4:8) “FOR BODILY EXERCISE PROFITETH LITTLE: BUT GODLINESS IS
PROFITABLE UNTO ALL THINGS, HAVING PROMISE OF THE LIFE THAT NOW IS,
AND OF THAT WHICH IS TO COME.” The Lord is speaking here of exercise that is
performed to excess and has become obsessive.

We believe that whatsoever we do, we must do it to the greater glory of God, (I

CORINTHIANS 10:31) “WHETHER THEREFORE YE EAT, OR DRINK, OR
WHATSOEVER YE DO, DO ALL TO THE GLORY OF GOD.”

We believe that we will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ and will be answerable
for the things done unto our bodies, (II CORINTHAINS 5:10) “FOR WE MUST ALL APPEAR
BEFORE THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST; THAT EVERY ONE MAY RECEIVE THE
THINGS DONE IN HIS BODY, ACCORDING TO THAT HE HATH DONE,
WHETHER IT BE GOOD OR BAD.”
We believe that it is our reasonable service to present our bodies a holy living sacrifice unto
God, and that we are not to be conformed to this world, (ROMANS 12:1-2) (1) “I BESEECH
YOU THEREFORE, BRETHREN, BY THE MERCIES OF GOD, THAT YE PRESENT
YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY, ACCEPTABLE UNTO GOD, WHICH IS
YOUR REASONABLE SERVICE. (2) AND BE NOT CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD:
BUT BE YE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, THAT YE MAY
PROVE WHAT IS THAT GOOD, AND ACCEPTABLE, AND PERFECT, WILL OF GOD.”

We are convinced that alcoholic beverages, tobacco in all of its forms, illegal drugs, and
anything we do to harmful excess is certainly not in accordance with the perfect will of God for
us, and it is unacceptable and most assuredly a part of this world and its sinful vices.
