Short Response 3: Utilizing the Library

On February 20, I visited the library to discuss what kind of services are available. The

librarian that provided information to me was Melissa Mazzeno. The library occasionally has

elementary and high school students visit the library on tours. The library offers computers, a

printer, fax machine, copier, and study rooms. Study rooms are used for students who like to

study in peace without being disturbed by students passing by in the library. There are also two

larger meeting rooms for bigger groups of students to meet at. To receive a study or meeting

room it is first come first serve, students do not have to sign up for rooms. The new thing the

library offers is break time games, which are games that are meant to calm students by taking a

break during their studying time. It includes games such as Uno, Sorry, and coloring if board

games are not what interests a student. Online the library offers students the opportunity to find

books either at the library or at the book store. Also, something I personally use often is the

Credo Reference Collection. If a student is doing a research paper search in Credo and it will

provide the information needed.

As a student that is always in the library, I learned that just being at the library is helpful.

The information that surprised me was that elementary children visit the college. That should

encouraging for students in elementary to be hardworking like college students. The computer

has broken on me and a librarian had to come and help me fix it so many times that they know

me by name there. The library is an amazing place to study and do homework at. It is rarely busy

since many students do not know where it is located, and it is occasionally quiet. the library has a

safe, encouraging environment and I would visit again.
