Introduction:

Statistics

To deal with numerical data to perform the research problem and prove / rejection of stated
hypothesis is called statistics. This is the game of numbers which may be tested in accordance
of already proven tract (formula). The standard methods of statistics to evaluate data are
“Measuring of Disruption, centre of tendency: mean, median, mode”, “Testing analysis:
hypothesis testing i.e Z testing, T testing”, “Relationship of data: coefficient of correlation”,
“Variability”, “Validity”, “Data Series: Continuous, Discrete”, “Recognition of Variables”.

Library and Information Science

Library and information science is branch of social sciences, where people (user) centred
theme of study has been adopted i.e how to satisfy the user requirement and when and what
are the sources/resources to help out user to satisfy his/her problem.

Critical thinking – to acquire the knowledge/finding the study has been taken.

Continuity of ideas – Interdisciplinary relationship for the fields shows the value of data
relationship in the fields.

Relationship of both fields (Interdiscipline Linkage)

As we know the library science is social subject. Statistics deals the pure notations/pure
sciences branch. All the disciplines are now interlinked and produced multiple discipline
outputs. Libraries have huge statistical data in shape of collection, users, procedure and so on.
We are using numerous statistical data in routine work. To acquire quantative and semi
quantative research, statistical methods are compulsory elemeent to apply the already proven
formulas to test the research and evaluate its results as well as validity of the acquired raw
data for the research.

Statistical Error:
To study the relationship it will be helpful for research to recognise the statistical errors and
their treatment while research data.

Clarity of Data Presentation

An author should discuss the apparent discrepancy in the text at the time, if that is
appropriate, or mention that the discrepancy has been noted and will be discussed later in the
text. The discrepancy should not be ignored; the reader will wonder what is causing the
observed inconsistency.
When working with statistics, careful use of language is important so the reader is not
confused. ‘Significant’ is a word that is used casually and can result in confusion when
statistics are involved. In our regular speaking and writing, significant means important.

3. Conclusion:

To study the relationship it is concluded that both fields has deep relationship being fields of
social science.
