Martin 1 Shannon Martin Mrs.Schenck English 11 14 January 2019 Writing prompt chapters 1 and 2 In the historical fition, The Geet Gaisby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Daisy mentions that she hopes her child would likely end up a beautiful fool. The implicit meaning behind it all suggests that she would want her child to live a happy life, a beautiful girl that doesn’t ask tognany questions about life. Daisy suffers from knowing of the affair and the reality, she would think that the less her daughter knows, the better off she will be, instead of dealing with the harshness of reality. “That's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool,” (Fitzgerald 17). Daisy is really worried about how her daughter will portray the real world and does not want her child to end up like her and Tom. She would want her daughter to be a “beautiful fool” because she would not have to work for anything, just be naive and don’t ask questions. Also in that quote, it shows symbolism that Daisy wants for her daughter to have. Daisies are represented by white and gold. The white part of the flower represents the innocence that she also wants her daughter to have and the gold represents the wealth that they will eventually get later. Tom is slowly taking away that innocence by having an affair. Tom is like taking petals off the flower and Daisy does not want the same for her daughter. Daisy wants t her daughter to keep her petals which means to keep her innocence and ignorance. In conclusion, the interpretation of the quote meant that Daisy does not want her daughter to go through pain and suffering of reality Trelude audene oars, like she has, and to go live a life of luxury. She does not want her to be affected by anything, just, to protect her and guard her from life.
