I've worked with Mr. Tucker at Tom McCall Upper Elementary School for the past three years. in my role as Dean of Students I've had an ‘opportunity to see Mr. Tuckers skill set as a classroom teacher, an active member in various schoo! committees and an advocate for students. (One of the first things | learned about Mr. Tucker is he eagerly takes on leadership roles within our school. In just three years Jake has been apart of multiple committees focused around curriculum, school climate and the organization of Tom McCall. Jake is part of our school PBIS Team, Leadership Team, Build Site Council, Equity Team and Math Leadership Team. As part of these committees Mr, Tucker managed multiple budgets, lead professional development and was actively involved in the operations of our school Jake is able to bring 2 unique balance of leadership skills to his position. He has a knack for seeing the long ‘term vision, while also paying close attention to detail, Jake is very comfortable leading both students and staff through new school initiatives. In addition to his many roles at Tom McCall, for the 2018/2019 school ‘year, Jake worked as our school Testing Coordinator and has also created 2 completely new master schedule for our school of 800 students. Al these great attributes that Mr. Tucker brings to our school are not overshadowed by his student centered focus. | hear him often talk about student perspective and how our work will lead to a more engaging ‘experience for the students we serve, His emphasis on classroom climate and relationship with students is cone of his greatest assets as a classroom teacher. Beyond this role, Jake has taken on case managing and, building relationship with some of our most behaviorally challenged students in our building. He goes above and beyond by doing daily check ins and putting in place behavior systems to support these students. \ consider Jake Tucker to be an exceptional staff member who is looked to as a leader amongst his peers.
