Suffix

Is a letter or a group of letters added to the end of a word to change the meaning of that
word or to ensure it fits gramatically into a sentence.
1. -able, -ible (can be done) = comfortable, passable.
2. -al, -ail (characteristics) = personal, loyal.
3. -ed (past tense verbs) = danced, played.
4. -en (made of) = golden, wooden.
5. -er (comparative) = tidier, nicer.
6. -ion, -tion, ation, ition (act or process) = attraction.
7. -less (without) = topless.
8. -ness (condition of) = kindness.
9. -ment (action or process) = enjoyment.
10. -ive, -ative, -itive (adjective from a noun) = expensive.
Prefix
Is a letter or a group of letters added to the front of a word to change its meaning.
1. uni- (one) = unicorn, unilaterally.
2. trans- (across) = transmit.
3. sub- (under) =submarine, substandard.
4. post- (after) = post-mortem.
5. mono- (one) = monocle.
6. micro- (small) = microscope.
7. macro- (large) = macronutrients.
8. hyper- (over, more) = hyperactive.
9. dis- (not) = disappear.
10. auto- (self) = autopilot.
