Research Proposal

If a topic has ever chosen me, this is the one. My topic is “Why to

consider adopting internationally when there are so many children

here in the US that need homes”. My little sister, Melayah, is adopted

from China. We adopted her when she was 2 years old, and I could

never imagine our family without her. I think there are many benefits of

adopting either internationally or domestically, but for this essay I

would like to highlight the importance of international adoptions.

This essay is going to be a lot of fun for me to write and learn

more about my topic and dive even deeper into it than what I already

know. I feel strongly about this topic, and think like this is a very

important thing for people to be generally educated about especially if

they are considering adoption. Before researching this, I know all the

benefits of international adoption but have never really compared it to

domestic. I believe very strongly that more people should consider

adoption and hopefully my essay can educate a few people about it

that did not consider adoption before. What I already know about this

topic is a pretty broad spectrum of information, all from experience. I

know that there are a lot more things you can run into during the

adoption process than just what my family has, and I know there are a

lot of benefits and that the end result is totally worth the wait.

During this process, I am hoping to learn a lot of the different

scenarios that would make each different kind of adoption most

practical for individual families. I hope to point out pros and cons to

both, but ultimately educate people on international adoption. I want

to learn more about peoples stories and things that they have been

through during the process, and use lots of examples and facts to help

more people consider international adoption.
