Refection/Portfolio Final

Throughout the semester I have completed many homework assignments and planned out

many papers which have challenged me and helped me learn many things about my writing and

my progress of learning. I also want to show that I have completed all five of the course

objectives. I think that all of these completed works are unique and educational in many different

ways. I have also developed much need writing skills in Mrs. Litle’s 121001 English class such

as the ability to utilize many different tools used in writing.

First of all, one of the most important things I learned in this class was exhibiting an

understanding of audience, purpose, genre, and formatting that is responsive to the situation.

This semester I have completed many assignments which have helped grow a greater

understanding of all of these things. In Artifact one “Response Assignment” I was asked to write

a paper on a Netflix show “Lock up”. This assignment helped me understand a great deal about

analyzing a situation and responding with the correct formatting which included genre. One of

the things I learned through out this assignment was to take notes in a situation such as the one

presented to me to help find a way I can put my response down with the correct formatting and

grammar that I need to fit to my audience and be able to show the purpose as to which I was

writing the paper. Another thing I learned was to closely examine each situation so that I could

explain what was going on throughout the situation in my paper providing a sound piece of work

for my audience.

The next objectives that I have learned throughout this semester is that I have learned to

Plan, write, revise and review multi-paragraph compositions that stress analytical, evaluative,

exploratory, and persuasive/argumentative writing within rhetorical situations. Throughout my

time in this class I have completed many different assignments that have helped me learn to plan,

write, etc. but there has been two in this class that has helped me understand these things that is

set above all the rest. In Artifact number two “Men’s Fashion Push and Pull of Advertisement” I

learned to plan of my writing in many ways which I think I very important in accordance with

making a sound piece of writing. I learned to plan out in this Assignment by drawing out sort of

a plan that helps me proceed into my paper with a good direction and a knowing of were my

paper should be headed. Planning out this this paper I also learned how to apply conventions of

composition which include organization, presentation, and stylistic choices. Artifact two made

organizing my paper seem much more understandable because I was describing a cover of a

magazine to examine the rhetorical modes that it presented I explained how the magazine cover

or may I say ad presented these rhetorical modes and how they may affect a certain audience.

In artifact number three “Expanding on Turners “The Mass Production of Celebrity”” I

also learned to plan out my paper but further which helped me to begin to understand how to

present my paper in the way I wanted to with stylistic choices like the wording I used to

summarize and expand on all the dense information that I was presented with from The Mass

Production of Celebrity by Turner.

The next important course objective I learned in Mrs. Litle’s English class 1210001 was

being able to Employ critical and evaluative reading skills in order to synthesize evidence and/or

sources in support of a claim, using an appropriate documentation system. Throughout this

semester I have completed several assignments that have help me develop these skills in many

ways but the one that helped me the most would probably have to be Artifact number four

“Artificial intelligence Benefits and Necessity’s to Humanity” In this assignment I had to argue

my point on which if Artificial intelligence is a necessity to humanity and if its beneficial. I

learned many useful objective throughout this assignment one of the objectives I completed was

being able evaluate different source to find which source can correctly support my claim to do

this I was given many lessons on how to do research for this assignment and how to evaluate

each source for example one of my source was from the department of education which was very

verifiable as a credible source. I evaluated each source by examining where each source

originally came from and who the owners were as well as copyright documentation. Writing this

assignment has also helped me understand how to correctly document all of the information that

I gathered expand and argue my point at which I show a logical stand point taking

inconsideration both sides of the argument.

Learning to Apply genre conventions such as paragraphing, tone, mechanics, style,

grammar, syntax, and structure was also a key objective in this course. Throughout this semester

I have completed many different assignments that have helped me understand all of the

objectives I have mentioned before. Artifact number five “Refection paper 4“will show that I

have completed most if not all of these objectives. The reflection paper I wrote helped examine

my self and realize what kind of structure I used like when I utilized different formats wording

and information that have helped me organize my structure to reach out to the audience I tend to

reach out to. Focusing on my Grammar was another part of this assignment as I examined the

type of grammar I need to use for a solid logical paper.

During this semester my English instructor has helped progress in my writing

with many different assignments that were very enjoyable in many ways. All of these

assignments have contributed to my writing process in many different ways helping me grow as

a writer. I now feel very confident in my writing and hope to complete much more papers and

different types of writings such as annotated bibliography’s in my lifetime I also feel no matter

what class I go into I will be confident in my writing although I feel there is always room for

improvement I think I am pretty educated as writer at this point.
