VOLUNTEER NEWSLETTER

As part of my senior project I elected to volunteer at the Rose E. Schneider

Family YMCA. After reading the YMCA’s website, I was encouraged by what
this Organization stands for and how they help our community. Below is a
description of their mission and their goals for helping our neighborhoods.

ROSE E. SCHNEIDER FAMILY YMCA

VOLUNTEERING
There is no other volunteer organization quite like the Y. That’s because in 10,000 communities
across the nation, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but to deliver,
lasting personal and social change.

Each of our volunteers helps deliver the benefits of good health, strong connections, greater
self-confidence and a sense of security to all who seek it.

As the nation’s leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social
responsibility, the Y provides kids, adults, families and communities with vital support and
opportunities to learn, grow and thrive.

We work tirelessly every day to nurture the potential of kids, improve the nation’s health and
well-being, and give back and support our neighbors. (www.Rose E. Schneider.com)
I volunteered for 21.5 hours, working with the Director of Healthy
Living, Kathy Hensler. I helped clients work the exercise equipment
in the Fitness and Wellness Center. I answered client questions
about how to find the different areas in the Y and what services it
provides. I also helped Ms. Hensler with passing at Marketing
Materials.

Volunteering at the Y allows you to meet all types of people of all

ages. It also helps people become fit and healthy. My service time
was greatly appreciated by Ms. Hensler, the YMCA staff and the
members. It was a rewarding experience and something I would
recommend to anyone.
