Should Major league athletes make as much as they do?

What do you think when you see major league athletes making millions? Do you think
it’s hard earned money or do you think it’s too much money for what they do. My opinion from
being a three sport athlete and growing up and recently picking up golf I always wanted to be a
major league athlete, but you soon realize that these are things you have to perfect to be at the
next level. I could’ve put the time in but the chances of making it are so slim it’s almost a waste
unless your there for the next level of completion or trying to make it your job. I’d want to
become a major league athlete because of how much they make but I don’t think that that they
should really be making that much money just to play a sport. The money they make most
people won’t even see in a lifetime.
How these athletes spend their money is remarkable because they spend so much of it
on stupid stuff and when fans or people see that it shows a lot about what kind of athlete they
become. They act like money grows on trees and then they end up broke because they don’t
know how to manage their money. (Tran) “Athletes Salaries are just unfair. They bring us
entertainment , but that’s about it. And often times athletes do really stupid stuff with their
obscene salaries.” Either way you look at it the guy that swings a bat at a ball makes more than
the average American makes in a decade. The average athletes career last about five years or
less while other people with regular jobs work to earn they’re paycheck until the day they retire
or die. Tiger wood for example is the best golfer in our generation or to ever play golf. He’s
played for his whole life even before he could play tournaments, and since becoming pro in
1996 he has the most PGA Tour wins with 80 wins and is still playing at the age of 43. He has
made over 1.5 billion dollars just playing golf and he’s made that in the span of just 23 years.
It’s something you could only imagine of having, but at some point you’d have so much money I
feel like most people don’t know what to do and that’s where they get out of hand. Some
sports pay they athletes with what they call an appearance fee. So in golf what they would do is
get ahold of you or your manager and then you would accept to play. When you do that all you
have to do is show up and play and you earn around 100,000 dollars or more and it doesn’t
matter how they play they just have to show up and they get that money. That’s more than
what the average American makes in a year and these guys are making that in a half day just to
play a sport. They could be doing so much more to help our country and the debt were in or do
something that’s benefiting everyone.
My second argument of why I believe athletes shouldn’t be making this much money,
because of their job in life isn’t as important as what others do. (BHAGAT) “The president who
makes critical decisions that affect the entire world every day, only makes $400,000 a year.
While the unproven rookie in the MLB is earning way over that figure.” That should be a big
attention grabber, and I don’t see why this isn’t one of the biggest arguments going on in sports
right know. Even if you don’t like the president you should realize how much more these
athletes are making compared to our leader. Everyone in the United States depends on him
weather they wanted them in that positon or not and that’s my wakeup call as it should be
yours. He’s not the only one that has a job that depends on others like teachers, police officers,
Doctors, Firefighters, and active people in the military and they’re salaries aren’t anywhere
near what athletes make and there people we depend on the most. These people are helping
the community and saving lives everyday which makes no sense how they don’t make more
money.
