“COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE HOLLOW BLOCK WITH PARTIAL REPLACEMENTS OF

CRUSHED OYSTER SHELL FOR FINE AGGREGATES AND PEANUT SHELL ASH FOR CEMENT”

Objective of the Study

Generally, this experimental study aims to determine the compressive

strength of concrete hollow block with oyster shell as partial replacement
for fine aggregates and peanut shell ash as partial replacement for cement.

In order to fulfil the general objectives, the following specific

objectives must be obtained:

1. To determine the compressive strength of concrete hollow block with 5%

of crushed oyster shell as partial replacement for fine aggregates and
15% of peanut shell ash as partial replacement for cement on the 28th
day of curing period;
2. To determine the compressive strength of concrete hollow block with 10%
of crushed oyster shell as partial replacement for fine aggregates and
20% of peanut shell ash as partial replacement for cement on the 28th
day of curing period;
3. To determine the compressive strength of concrete hollow block with 15%
of crushed oyster shell as partial replacement for fine aggregates and
25% of peanut shell ash as partial replacement for cement on the 28th
day of curing period;
4. To determine the compressive strength of regular concrete hollow block
as the control sample.
5. To determine if there is a significant difference on the compressive
strength of concrete hollow blocks for Mixture A, B & C.
6. To determine the highest compressive strength between the three
mixtures and the regular concrete hollow block.
7. To determine the cost of the concrete hollow block with the highest
compressive strength and the regular concrete hollow block.
