CAN
1. Ability: To know how to do something. Example: Colombian people can study in Argentina
for free.
2. Posibility: To talk about something that can happen. Example: You can get frozen in the
Nevado del Ruiz.
3. Permission: To request or give permission. Example: Can we go to the Black and white
festival in Pasto?

Could
-Express ability in the past. Example: Bart and Milhouse could stop time before they broke the
watch.
-To request permission in present (it’s the same as can, but more polite). For example: Could we
move to Ibague?
-A suggestion: Bart could try and fix the watch. Milhouse could learn how to repair watches.
The modal verb may and might is used to express a future possibility. You can use the two verbs
without a difference in meaning, although might means a minor probability than may.
For example: The journey from Bogota to Neiva may be too long (Aprox. 8 hours long)
