Dyslexia

Students will understand what dyslexia is and how to manage

with someone in their classroom that has dyslexia

Smart board, PowerPoint, worksheets

Watch video on dyslexia and have them write on a

piece of paper one thing that stood out to them

Ask if anyone has dyslexia and if anyone knows what it is. Watch video, and students

will write one thing that stood out to them, then explain what dyslexia actually is. Show

examples of what students with dyslexia see and get the students to try to read it and

then show them what it really says. Talk about how as a teacher we can help our

students. Ask if there are any questions.nThen look at worksheets and see if the

students can identify why it would be beneficial for a special needs students to be

given that worksheet. Give them a worksheet. Then they are going to discuss with a

partner what they wrote on the piece of paper about the video.
