Red peppers

Is a cultivar group of the species Capsicum annuum . The misleading name

"pepper" was given by Europeans when Christopher Columbus brought
the plant back to Europe.

China is the world's largest producer of bell peppers, followed by Mexico,

Turkey, Indonesia, and the United States.

The terms "bell pepper", “mangoes” (US), "pepper" (UK), and "capsicum"
(Pakistan, India, Australia, and New Zealand), “paprika”, are often used.

Red peppers are peppers which are sweet-tasting and can be used in
cooking or eaten raw in salads.

Green peppers are generally cheaper than other bell peppers. Since they
are picked earlier, they require fewer resources and less work, making
them cost less.

Red peppers contain 11 times more beta carotene (an antioxidant

associated with cancer fighting properties), eight times more vitamin A,
and 1.5 times more vitamin C than green peppers
