Summative Citizenship Reflection

Reflect on your four years of community service. In a thoughtful paragraph, discuss what you
did, what you learned about yourself, the value of community service, future careers or interests,
collaboration, workplace environments, Cloverdale, Sonoma County, and/or how the experience
of community service has impacted you.

Over the last 4 years I have done 60 hours of community service. I did about 50 of my
community service hours at elementary schools. I volunteered at Jefferson Elementary school the
summer before my freshman year. And I have volunteered at Healdsburg Charter school the past
two years over the citrus fair break. Volunteering at these schools gave me an idea of what is like
to be a elementary school teacher. I realized how hard teachers work to make sure their students
get a good education. They put in extra effort before school to make sure the class room is ready
to go. And they stay after school to prepare their lesson plans for the next day. It was a really
good experience but I think I would rather be a high school teacher than an elementary teacher.
Volunteering at schools has definitely made me thinking about becoming a teacher in the future.

Have you registered to vote? Why or why not?

No I have not registered to vote because I can not. I am a DACA recipient and I am unable to
register to vote.

What are some ways that you plan to be an active citizen of this town, state, and/or country in
your adult life?
I plan to be an active citizen by particpating in community activties wherever I end up living. I
plan to help and improve my community in whatever way I can.
