Future career interests (if known): Digital Media/ Film making

Targeted soft skills you chose for this year:

1. Be Engaged
2. Self Management

Description of Artifact (*The personal artifact may be anything that demonstrates growth, skills, interests, discoveries, and/or abilities
from your experience this last year -- can be school-related or not.)

I entered in the Alexander Valley Film Society 2018 student film competition and received an
honorable mention award. The theme for the contest was to interview students who were
impacted by the North Bay fires in 2017.

Why did you choose this as one of your artifacts?

I chose this artifact because I didn't enter the contest expecting to win anything. I wanted to enter
the contest because I thought it would it would be interesting to hear how students were impacted
by the fires and how they have recovered since then.

How did your experience with this artifact change or impact you?

This experience impacted me because I interviewed students who were around the same age as
me and they had to go through something so traumatic. Making the film and interviewing the
students gave me different perspectives on the Tubbs fire.

Did you see growth in your targeted soft skills through the course of working on this artifact?
Explain.
Portfolio 2018-19

I did see growth in my targeted skills because this film contest was an extracurricular activity
that I chose to do outside of school and I had to do use self management to set up interviews and
find time to edit the film.

Provide an example of how the skills you practiced or the knowledge you gained via this artifact
may also be used in a career in which you are interested.
The skills I practiced were editing, conducting an interview, and most importantly time
management. I think these skills will help me tremendously in film making.
